Trolls in the Park 2012 - Connecting Green and Urban Space

In “NIJI” (meaning “rainbow”), there are not only seven colors, but there exist numerous gradations between them. This year, an open call for a broad range of work was made. Through the participation of new artists with free ideas and expressions, art with the appeal of unique colors will be brought together in the green park, coming to intertwine with the landscape.

In Trolls in the Park, there are not only outdoor artworks but also workshops that take place in the park, in addition to events and performances centered on Sundays and national holidays, bringing about exchanges between artists and visitors.

There is no correct way of viewing art, and there exist a plethora of genres. By bringing diverse colors to mix together, we are sure to witness a landscape never before seen and encounter new discoveries.

In the same way that a rainbow appears after rain, it is our hope that in the short period of the exhibition the encounters with the artwork and one-time-only performing art events will lead to greater interaction between those who are unfamiliar with art and people of the community, causing a “fusion” of different colors.
